Original roan-backed printed boards (rubbed); rebacked with a new quarter tan calf leather spine, black label with 23k gold title lettering. Pages with foxing spots, areas of dampstaining, tears, ink inscriptions from previous owner, etc. to be expected from age. Professionally repaired, notes are as follows: Adhesive tape removed; adhesives cleaned from paper surfaces. Text sections separated, pages repaired as needed using japanese repair paper and methylcelulose adhesive. Text resewn by hand on new cords and backed…Original front paper cleaned and laid down with repairs along edges of leather. Rear paper replaced with period paper distressed to blend with original materials. New inner paper hinges; original paste downs retained. Missing flyleaves replaced with period paper.
